The most recent meeting of our Neighborhood Watch Group was held the evening of May 6th at the Spicewood Springs Library. Organizers were gratified to see about fifty of our neighbors fill the room to hear Senior Police Officer Tanya Normand shed light on the purpose of a Neighborhood Watch Group and the positive impact it can have on the neighborhood. Officer Normand also reviewed the guidelines for when to call 311 and when to call 911, demonstrated some easy ways to improve home security, and answered questions. Several in attendance signed up to volunteer as Block Captains.

Next steps include organizing a phone tree, sending out information on how to obtain the Neighborhood Watch Group signs for each street, and scheduling our next Neighborhood Watch Group event.

This meeting was just the beginning - we hope to get more neighbors involved and create additional ways to help neighbors meet neighbors!

Special thanks go out to all our volunteers, to Sr. Police Officer Normand, to Rob Guthrie, to Larry Nuhn, to the Cub Scouts and other neighborhood volunteers who helped distribute fliers, and to AYSI, Inc., for printing the fliers for the meeting.
